OMAI welcomes acclaimed poet Angel Nafis, who will present a collaborative, interdisciplinary work developed in collaboration with the First Wave Touring Ensemble. Blending poetry, movement, sound, and visual elements, the piece exemplifies the festival’s commitment to breaking boundaries and embodying unity through art.
Following the performance, Angel and the First Wave Touring Ensemble will join in conversation with Professor Rogério Pinto (University of Michigan) in partnership with the a2ru Conference, deepening our collective exploration of how art shapes identity, memory, and social transformation.
Honoring Hip-Hop’s tradition of intergenerational dialogue and knowledge-sharing, this night is meant to highlight the ways in which artistic practice serves as both archive and future-making tool. Through storytelling and dialogue, we celebrate Hip-Hop’s enduring capacity to connect across mediums, generations, and experiences.
